چکیده
The construction of tunnels in densely populated urban areas poses a significant challenge terms anticipating the settlement that may result from tunnel excavation. This paper presents new and more realistic modeling method for excavation using Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). is compared with other reference methods validated model subsurface excavated by TBM slurry shield. A parametric study conducted to investigate impact key parameters, including structure width, foundation depth, eccentricity, load on structure, overburden diameter, tunnel–soil–structure interaction resulting settlements. results reveal depth have settlements, values 22.5%, 17%, 7.1%, respectively. Finally, proposes an equation predicting maximum considering critical parameters. validity evaluated comparing its outputs various case studies, newly model, two real-life centrifuge tests. indicate high level consistency between calculated measured

Numerical modeling of tunneling induced ground deformation and its control
Tunnelling through cities underlain by soft soil, commonly associated with soil movement around the tunnels and subsequent surface settlement. The predication of ground movement during the tunnelling and optimum support pressure could be based on analytical, empirical or the numerical methods. The commonly used Earth pressure balance (EPB) tunneling machines, uses the excavated soil in a pressu...
متن کاملA Proposed Modeling Method in Finite Element Slope Stability Analysis
Limit-equilibrium method (LEM) and finite element method (FEM) with strength reduction method (SRM) techniques are the most widely used analysis tools in slope stability assessment. Recently, researchers have reported that both factor of safety (FOS) values and failure surfaces obtained from LEM and FEM are generally in good agreement, except in some particular cases. In this paper, the FOS and...

متن کاملOptimal Pareto Parametric Analysis of Two Dimensional Steady-State Heat Conduction Problems by MLPG Method
Numerical solutions obtained by the Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method are presented for two dimensional steady-state heat conduction problems. The MLPG method is a truly meshless approach, and neither the nodal connectivity nor the background mesh is required for solving the initial-boundary-value problem. The penalty method is adopted to efficiently enforce the essential boundary co...
متن کاملDimensional Analysis in Mathematical Modeling Systems: A Simple Numerical Method
This paper discusses dimensional manipulation, essentially a problem requiring symbolic mathematics techniques, using a numerical approach. The numerical method obeys the laws of dimensional arithmetic. This is achieved by specifying an encoding of units of measurement as prime numbers, and manipulating the resulting expressions numerically. The unique factorization theorem is applied to show t...
